Zur Lebendspende menschlicher Organe aus ethischer Sicht
Living organ donation is currently under pressure due to the shortage of organs donated post mortem. The latter causes problems in the treatment of seriously ill and dying patients. However, living organ donation is itself confronted with ethical challenges in the ascertainment of the willingness of the donor, the duty to prevent harm, and the introduction of financial incentives and rewards. Lines must be drawn between self-determination and self-harming, between suffering and the right to receive help, between the well-being of the patient and the duty not to harm, and last but not least between donating and trading organs. The result is a plea for the restriction of living organ donation according to the criteria of utmost urgency and the absence of alternatives.
